I don’t want to forget that local government is an absolutely important part of the puzzle that makes up our society. Local, State and National elections are the essence of our Democracy.
Agree with sentiments expressed Melina, however time has passed for ‘thoughtful responses’. We need definitive action from our Democratic leaders to quash this MAGA dumpster fire and try to salvage what Democracy the country has remaining!
Like what? They're trying to inform us because they have less power than voters to change what Republicans do in office. They can filibuster, they can't stop executive orders.

We don't lose sight in what Musk is doing. It is by far more damaging than anything. Last night he was at NOAA shutting down that building. This am a rep put forth legislation demolishing OSHA. Oligarchs and capitalism run amok.
I’m also in a blue state and my rep said they tally the calls so it is one thing we can do. But, I would say it seems a small action, and not particularly impactful relative to the emergency we are facing. We the people are pissed, we are scared, and we are ready for action. We need leadership from the people we elected, who are already in the position to know the ins and outs, who were elected to protect our interests!!!!

I wholeheartedly agree with the comments thanking Senator Murphy for these comments but asking him and all other members of congress to please find a way to push back forcefully and immediately on Musk’s takeover of all government IT systems. The potential damage is incalculable. Also please tell us what we as citizens can do. A lot of people are expressing fear about the dangers of protesting. Can we persuade them that it is worth it? Will turning out in mass make any difference? What are our options?
Get out this Saturday and protest. Freaking out Republicans and Leon w backlash is the best response. I don't know why everyone thinks there is some magic button Dems in office have forgotten to push - they don't have power to do much, FOTUS can do what he wants.

Thanks Senator Murphy for passionately leading in congress . We all must be loud, forceful, bold in fighting this takeover of our country and government on all front. I have been very involved in a group grassroots organizations that worked really hard to try to prevent this from happening (I have also been very involved in GVP grassroots). So my asks are (i) please use all means available to fight in courts and in congress (ii) please activate the grassroots and many concerned citizens who want to do something effective. We ALL need to work together!!! to have a super strong opposition. I would appreciate hearing from you on how to best do this!
